Plate Loading Test

Plate loading tests are carried out to determine the bearing capacity of soils. Usually performed under foundation locations where detailed geotechnical investigations are not carried out, or when the sub soil conditions are not expected to be poor, but some data on the bearing capacities are beneficial. This test is covered by C P 2001:1957, ASTM D 1194-72 and BS 5930:1981.
